PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) — Over the weekend of September 28th and 29th, 2024, the inclement weather allowed one special restaurant to stay open despite many homes and businesses in the area losing power.

The weather brought in a flurry of customers to Dolly’s Diner in Princeton.

The cozy atmosphere in Dolly’s Diner was the perfect place for those without power to find safety, refuge, and a warm meal.

Local folks were happy to see the restaurant had power, while many of their homes did not.
Dolly Lane, Co-Owner of the restaurant, says she’s thankful their power stayed on so they could help others.

“Well, I’m thankful we have been able to [stay open.] We’ve done the best that we can, and we’re just thankful that God has been with us and got us through,” Lane told 59News.

Lane and the staff at Dolly’s remain dedicated to supporting their customers and giving them a safe place to land when life gets hard.

Though she is grateful for the business, Lane said she is worried about the impact on families in surrounding states who have seen the deadly devastation of Helene.

“You can’t replace people. I just really feel bad for those that have lost family members in this,” said Lane.
