Tonight features partly to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping into the upper 50s. Patchy fog will be possible toward dawn.
Friday is dry for most of the day. However, during the mid to late morning hours, a weak trough will squeeze a couple of sprinkles, mainly over our mountain spots and down into Virginia – otherwise, we’re looking at partly sunny skies with temperatures warming up into the upper 70s. It will be a beautiful afternoon! Our game of the week for high school football is Oak Hill facing Independence – Anchor Rivers Upchurch will be live for that game and I’ll be live for the Liberty High School homecoming game as they face off at home against undefeated Westside! We’ll have highlights from around the region tonight in the 59 News Sports Zone.
Saturday will begin with patchy dense fog once again, but that will dissipate by mid-morning. Plenty of sunshine will make for a gorgeous day with high temperatures in the mid 70s thanks to an area of high pressure up by the Great Lakes. Saturday events such as Chili Night will be served with fantastic weather.
Sunday will see another front associated with an upper level trough scoot toward the region late in the day. Similar to Friday, most of the day will be dry, but we will see clouds on the increase late with an isolated to widely scattered shower possible after dark. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s. Overall, it’s a great weekend of weather ahead.
Monday once again provides the risk for patchy dense fog, and an isolated sprinkle or two before dawn, but after that fog dissipates mid-morning, we’ll be seeing plenty of sunshine. High temperatures will be cooler behind our front, only in the upper 60s. We will have a chilly night Monday night into Tuesday, with temperatures dipping back into the low to mid 40s – isolated instances of frost in the high country is possible.
Tuesday features mostly sunny conditions, with high temperatures in the mid 60s with a strong ridge of high pressure building over the eastern US once again, similar to what we saw during the first half of the month of September. Once again, we’ll have another chilly night, with lows in the low 40s.
Wednesday continues the sunny pattern and we will begin to see our temperatures rebound, with plenty of sunshine expected and highs in the mid 60s.
Thursday begins to see the mercury rebound a bit, with mostly sunny skies expected and highs in the upper 60s.
Looking ahead in your extended forecast, high pressure will continue to dominate our weather, which means we will be dry. We also will slowly see our temperatures increase, high temperatures working their way up to around 70 degrees Friday. We’ll be back into the low to mid 70s by Saturday into Sunday under mostly sunny skies.
