West Virginia hosts No. 8 Kansas Thursday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia University volleyball team (6-9, 0-4 Big 12) returns home to welcome No. 8 Kansas on Thursday night. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. ET inside the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.

Thursday’s match is a Family Game Night, the first 300 fans in attendance will receive customized Mountaineer playing cards.

Join the Mountaineers for a Happy Hour every weeknight game for half off all beverages from 6 p.m., until first serve.

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME . When purchasing online, tickets are $6 each and $5 each for groups of 10 or more. Any remaining tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors and $5 for groups at the ticket window on match day.

WVU student tickets also will be made available at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at the Coliseum. The office, as well as the stadium gates, opens at 6 p.m., on game day.

WVU students are admitted for free with a valid WVU Student I.D.

Thursday’s match marks the 27 ^th meeting between the Jayhawks and Mountaineers, dating back to 1999. Kansas leads the all-time series 20-6 and picked up a pair of wins 3-0 over West Virginia last season on Oct. 26 and 27.

Last time out, the Mountaineers fell to Houston 3-1 on Oct. 4 in Houston. West Virginia was highlighted by redshirt junior outside hitter Cassidy Tanton, who collected her ninth double-double of the season with 14 kills and digs. Additionally, sophomore setter Alexis Finnvold dished 40 assists while graduate student libero Sydney Reed counted 15 digs.

In the Big 12, the Mountaineers rank No. 5 in service aces, collecting 102 aces across 61 sets. Tanton is tabbed at No. 5 in league service aces with 26 and ninth in kills and points with 205 and 237.

Ray Bechard is in his 27 ^th season at the helm of the Jayhawks, boasting a record of 481-309 at Kansas. KU enters the match 12-1 with a 3-0 conference mark. In their last outing, Kansas defeated Colorado 3-1 on Oct. 3 in Boulder.
