WYOMING COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — Efforts were underway in Wyoming County to restore the historical courthouse on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

Blackened over the years by weather and traffic, the courthouse was being cleaned and had repairs done thanks to the efforts of the Chapman Technical Group.

The first phase of the project includes cleaning the front steps to the entrance and general upkeep. It is estimated to be completed by mid-November. However, the second phase of the project will not start until Spring of 2025.

“I am so excited for the public. Phase two of the project will be the side steps which is what what’s mostly used by the public, and they’ll see that every day,” said Jewell Aguilar, Wyoming County Clerk.

According to Jewell Aguilar, the cleanup efforts are expected to be finished by Summer of 2025.
As the restoration continues, it not only aims to preserve the beautiful historic landmark but to pass on the history for future generations.
