HINTON, WV (WVNS) – The City of Hinton is preparing for a historic weekend.

Hinton Railroad Days is rolling back into town from Friday, October 11th through Sunday, October 13th for its 58 th year. They have 24 bands playing between two stages over the weekend, including John Ellison, who will be singing his popular song, “Some Kind of Wonderful,” plus several local artists.

Mayor Jack Scott of the City of Hinton told 59News he wants to highlight what Hinton is all about.

“We are a true railroad town. This town would not be here, if it were not for the railroad coming through here and building their infrastructure. So, here we are fifty years later, and we are still celebrating that. I mean, we are much more than that now. We are a gateway into the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, but yet that railroad history is a huge part of what we do,” said Mayor Scott.

There will be a lot of different vendors set up for Railroad Days and a trackless train will be giving out rides on Friday and Saturday.

Each day of Railroad Days, vendors will open at 10 a.m. and should close around 6 p.m. Mayor Scott said he would not be surprised if some vendors wait to close until a little bit later, so that they can give visitors a great Railroad Days experience.
