Chance for showers/storms early tonight; much colder to begin next week

Sunday evening starts great but changes as a cold front moves in around dusk. Scattered shower will be around 7 PM through 1 AM, with one or two strong storms possible during the first few hours, damaging winds being the biggest risk. We’ll settle down as we get into Monday morning, though expect conditions to be chilly and breezy, with wind gusts up to 30 mph in the lowlands and pushing 30-40 across the eastern mountains, as temps drop into the 40s.
Monday will be partly cloudy with the occasional peak of sunshine. It will be a breezy start in the morning, wind gusts across the lowlands pushing 30 mph and slightly more for the eastern mountains. Wind gusts will settle down during the second half of Monday, but as multiple shortwaves approach during the afternoon, we’ll bring back the chance for some light showers. Temps will only be in the 50s for the lowlands, 40s across the mountains.
Tuesday morning is frigid with temps in just the 30s! Good reminder to keep those jackets around for those heading to work or the bus stop. A few isolated showers will be possible under mostly cloudy skies for Tuesday – we could even see a few snowflakes across the highest peaks, but no accumulations are expected with temps in upper 40s!
Wednesday won’t be the best wakeup call with temps near 30 – widespread frost/freeze is looking likely! The lowlands will see clouds break apart throughout the day, while the highest terrains will deal with a stray sprinkle chance early in the day. Any more precip. chances are wrapped up by the evening as temps make it only into the upper 40s!
Thursday brings back area wide sunshine as high pressure moves back into the region. Still another cold start in the morning with temps near 30, but ample amounts of sunshine will help us move up into the middle to upper 50s.
Friday also looks like a great day – mostly sunny skies once again with our area of high pressure sticking around. Temps in the 30s for the morning will still be a good excuse to pack a jacket, but we warm up quite nicely later in the day into the middle 60s. Sunny skies into the evening will be perfect for high school football!
Saturday looks like a great start to the weekend with our area of high pressure not going anywhere. Temps near 40 for the morning will warm up into the 50s for lunchtime. By the afternoon, we’re in the upper 60s under mostly sunny skies so enjoy!
Sunday ends the weekend on another great note – high pressure once again isn’t going anywhere and sunny skies will continue throughout the day. Temps will make it into the upper 60s.
In your extended forecast, temps will stay warm on Sunday as temps rise back into the 70s. Little to no rainfall is expected for the following week until we get closer to the weekend, but even then, the chances look nil. With dry weather still persisting, remember to limit outdoor burning and continue to follow outdoor burn bans.
