    Drug Take Back Day to take place in Raleigh County

    BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The Beckley Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will hold a Drug Take Back Day in Raleigh County in October 2024.

    According to a post on the Beckley Police Department’s Facebook page, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, members of the community will be able to take expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs to Sam’s Club located on North Eisenhower Drive in Beckley, as well as the Raleigh County Commission on Aging on South Kanawha Street.

    Drug Take Back Day to be held in McDowell County

    Pills and patches are the only items that will be accepted during the Drug Take Back Day, as liquids, needles, and sharps are not accepted by the DEA.

    Services available as a part of the Drug Take Back Day are anonymous and free, with no questions asked.

    The post stated that around 335 tons (670,136 pounds) of prescription drugs were turned in during April 2024 at around 4,869 DEA collections sites, as well as approximately 4,607 of its state and local law enforcement partners.

    Virginia State Police can now issue CODI alerts

    Deterra Bags and coffee tumblers will be given out at the Sam’s Club location by the Raleigh County Family Support Center.
