Spectacular weekend of weather ahead, dry pattern continues next week

Tonight features mostly clear skies as temperatures drop into the mid to upper 30s by dawn Saturday. If you are headed out to support your favorite local high school football team, temperatures at kickoff will be in the upper 50s, dropping into the mid 40s by the end of the fourth quarter, so have a good sweater or jacket ready to stay warm – we all know those bleachers get cold! Otherwise, we’ve got a very quiet night on the way.
Saturday continues the warming trend with plenty of sunshine expected and after a frosty start, temperatures will jump up to around 70 degrees with a light southeast breeze. That breeze will be minimal, meaning the weather could not be more fantastic for Bridge Day this year! If you’re headed out to the 5K race in the morning, bundle up and I’ll see you there! We’ll hardly have any clouds during the day.
Sunday keeps the dry weather pattern continuing, as high pressure continues to sit over the area. This means storm systems will be moving around us, not through us. Once again, it’s a chilly start in the upper 30s but those temperatures will jump rapidly, as we make a run up to about 70 degrees once again – that’s two stellar days over the weekend for fall foliage gazing, hiking, or any other outdoor activity!
Monday once again will be dry with temperatures in the low 70s with plenty of sunshine expected. High pressure will be persistent once again – we need some rain though as historically, this is the timeframe when brush fires usually begin to appear in our neck of the woods with the leaves coming down.
Tuesday keeps the sunshine around with high pressure in control with highs in the low to mid 70s.
Wednesday sees a cold front push toward the region late in the day, which will provide an increase in cloud cover and the chance for a few showers after dark. It’s not much, but we’ll take it! The daytime will be dry with highs in the low 70s.
Thursday will begin with clouds and a few showers around with our front scooting through. At this point, we’re not looking at much more than a tenth of an inch of rain, so it’s not much rain. That front will bring the arrival of more seasonal weather into the picture for Thursday into Friday. Highs on Thursday will struggle to reach 60 degrees.
Friday sees the sunshine return and temperatures will begin to rebound with high pressure once again in control. We’ll see highs jump back up into the mid 60s.
Looking ahead in your extended forecast, our dry pattern will be continuing. This is not good for our drought and fire threats, which are slowly increasing with each dry day. Temperatures will be slightly above normal Saturday through Monday, as we inch our way back up toward 70 degrees with partly to mostly sunny skies.
