LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — The West Virginia School of Osteopathic medicine will soon receive a “facelift.”

Governor Jim Justice visited the Lewisburg campus on Friday, October 18, 2024, to make a ceremonial signing of a $13.6 million legislative funding provision for WVSOM.

WVSOM President Dr. James Nemitz, Ph.D., introduced the governor and assisted with the ceremonial signing.

The money will be spent on deferred maintenance and allow WVSOM facilities to be maintained.

The funds will also assist college administrators in controlling tuition rate and operating in a fiscally responsible manner.

“Don’t spend the money all in one place,” Gov. Jim Justice remarked, causing the audience to laugh. “Remember Babydog and I when you go through Wendy’s. You can get an extra nugget from time to time.”

Babydog was not at the signing because she needed to rest, following a recent trip to Pennsylvania, said Gov. Justice.
