BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – A Children’s Book Author and Illustrator was set up at Tamarack doing book signings.

Ashley Belote is from Preston County and was just recently at the West Virginia Book Festival in Charleston. She decided to stop in at Tamarack on her way home to inspire kids and promote her books to travelers passing by Tamarack’s bookstore.

Belote explained that her methodology when creating her books begin with the story idea and the character.

“I cannot write about something unless I see that character. So, I will draw a little bit, I will write a little bit, and I will ping pong back and forth. For me, I love to deliver messages using humor. Humor, I know, for me, is very special. I love sitcoms, comedy films, and being able to share in humor with kids is the absolute best! When I am doing a read-aloud, and I get like a great laugh out of an audience of kids…Ah! It is absolutely the best thing ever!” said Belote.

Belote is the author and illustrator of several books including: Sheepwrecked, Witch and Wombat, Frankenslime, and much more! One of her books was even featured in the Scholastic Book Fair.
