Maren Morris Brings Sparkling Suiting in David Koma to 2024 Democratic National Convention in Crystal-embellished Blazer for Performance

Maren Morris was among the performers on the third night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention on Wednesday in Chicago. The singer entertained the guests wearing a white blazer with a wide lapel and matching midi skirt by David Koma. The set was emblazoned with large, crystal embellishments that created an aurora borealis-like effect reflecting the blue floor and cool tones of the stage. Rather than coordinating with a top, she gave the look a sensual finish, opting to showcase her neckline with nothing underneath the jacket.

She completed the look with white pumps and sparkling jewelry, including rings and an ankle bracelet. Morris collaborated with stylist Dani Michelle, who has worked with Kendall Jenner, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

“Honored to be performing tonight at the @demconvention,” the country music star wrote on Instagram.

Morris’ song “Better Than We Found It” came with a political message, as it was a ballad that called attention to social injustice. “It’s a protest song,” she told Rolling Stone after its release in 2020 following the death of George Floyd. “It’s the most American thing to protest and protest songs have been so embedded in American culture.”

Morris has been experimenting with different Y2K-inspired silhouettes in the past few months, often corset tops and cutout minidresses with vibrant colors and bold prints. She’s been seen in pieces from David Koma, Retrofête, Cult Gaia, Collina Strada, Rick Owens and Alexander Wang.

The 2024 Democratic National Convention is taking place in Chicago. Held to officially nominate Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate and affirm her choice of Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota for vice president, the event also had its share of fashion statements.

On Tuesday, Michelle Obama took the stage in a Monse crisscross jacket. On Monday, Jill Biden sparkled in a custom Ralph Lauren dress and Hillary Clinton brought her signature style in a tweed suit.

The DNC will end on Thursday with Kamala Harris’s official speech as the Democratic nominee.
