Kerry Washington Favors Sustainable Luxury in Santicler’s Crocheted Polo and Skirt Set at 2024 Democratic National Convention, Reunites with Tony Goldwyn

Hosting the last night of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, Kerry Washington took the stage at the United Center in Chicago, wearing a white hand-crocheted set by California-based brand Santicler . Her outfit featured a cropped polo with pearl buttons and a scallop-edged collar and a matching midi skirt. Both pieces were crafted from Italian cotton yarn.

Santicler is a fashion brand founded by designer Monica Magdas Miller, who is known for its commitment to sustainability. The brand creates luxurious pieces with high-quality materials sourced from top European mills in Italy, Portugal and France.
Washington joined other guests and attendees who wore white at the event. Female delegates coordinated to wear white on the last night of the DNC to honor suffragists who fought to earn women the right to vote more than 100 years ago.

“As I stand here, I know there are folks on social media already saying, ‘Go back to your TV show. Shut up and act.’ I am not here tonight as an actor. I am here as a mother, as a daughter, as a proud union member. I am here as the granddaughter of immigrants, as a Black woman descended from enslaved people. I am here tonight because I am an American and because I am a voter, and because we the people are stronger when all of our voices are heard,” Washington said on stage. “I know that I am the one standing on the stage, but I am not the lead character in the story. You are, all of you. You are the messengers. You are the fixers. Dare I say it, you are the Olivia Pope. You are the superhero saving this Democracy.”
The actress surprised the audience by bringing Tony Goldwyn, her costar in “Scandal,” to the stage. They asked the audience to pull out their phones and record a chant: “When we fight, we win!”

Washington also interacted with Harris’ great-nieces, Amara and Leela Ajagu, to show how to correctly pronounce Harris’ first name.
The 2024 Democratic National Convention took place in Chicago from Monday to Thursday. Held to officially nominate Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate and affirm her choice of Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota for vice president, the event also had its share of fashion statements.
Michelle Obama took the stage in a Monse crisscross jacket, Jill Biden sparkled in a custom Ralph Lauren dress and Hillary Clinton brought her signature style in a tweed suit. Ella Emhoff, daughter of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and Ashley Biden , daughter of President Jill Biden , also embraced luxury fashion for the convention, with Ella wearing Thom Browne and Ashley going all-white in Gabriela Hearst.
