The Hall, Louis Vuitton’s first restaurant in China , has just been awarded its first Michelin star.

Helmed by Italian chef Leonardo Zambrino and located in downtown Chengdu , China ’s southwestern hub, the culinary destination has been acknowledged in the 2025 edition of the Michelin Guide Chengdu, now in its fourth edition.

Michelin said the restaurant stands out for its season-driven dishes, most notably its treatment of Yunnan mushrooms “in ingenious forms, with contrasting textures, flavors and temperatures.”

Zambrano, who was trained under chef Massimiliano Alajmo, has more than 10 years of experience at establishments such as the three-Michelin-star Da Vittorio in Italy, L’Orangerie in Paris , the three-Michelin-star Caprice in Hong Kong, The Tasting Room in Macau and, most recently, Da Vittorio in Shanghai .

Zambrino was also awarded this year’s Michelin Young Chef Award.

Appointed executive chef at The Hall in 2023, Zambrino is adept at incorporating local ingredients and flavors into the restaurant’s pan-European menu, which costs 1,288 renminbi, or $181, for a five-course menu and 1,888 renminbi, or $265, for an eight-course menu.

This September, The Hall will play host to a collaboration with Caprice, a French fine dining restaurant. An exclusive dining experience, the two-day pop-up will be primarily reserved for Vuitton’s VIP clients.

The Hall, which opened in 2022 at Chengdu’s luxury shopping mall Taikoo Li Chengdu, is housed in the Louis Vuitton Maison, which is spread across two connected buildings and a courtyard. The bistro-like restaurant offers a seasonal menu featuring pan-European flavors and classic dishes from French and Mediterranean cuisine.

Most recently, Louis Vuitton’s food journey took the luxury brand to Bangkok. Gaggan, helmed by Indian chef Gaggan Anand, opened within Vuitton’s destination store LV The Place Bangkok last March.

Louis Vuitton’s first café and restaurant opened in 2020 at its flagship in Osaka, Japan, and the brand has additional restaurant locations in Tokyo, Doha and Paris.
