DETROIT (WWJ) A Detroit man has been charged with stabbing and killing a man at a gas station on the city’s west side.

Kejaun Hedwood, 20, has been arraigned on the charge of First Degree Murder for the death of Gregory Gibson, also of Detroit.

Detroit Police said their officers were dispatched to a gas station on McNichols Road (17800 block), at Southfield, for a reported stabbing on July 16th at 3:43 p.m. When they arrived, officers found Gibson inside the gas station with a stab wound to the upper chest. Medics rushed him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to police; Hedwood and Gibson got into a verbal argument that escalated, leading to a Hedwood pulling out a pocketknife and stabbing Gibson. Police arrested Hedwood on July 30th.

Hedwood was given a $1,000,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. He is due back in court on August 5th.
