GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) — You may remember McGruff the Crime Dog’s famous catchphrase, “take a bite out of crime.” Well, a story in West Michigan is quite the opposite of that.

A woman is behind bars after allegedly biting a Michigan State Police trooper and stealing their patrol car.

It all unfolded around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 when troopers from the Grand Rapids Post responded to a domestic call, according to MSP. Officials did not specify where the incident took place.

During the course of the arrest, the woman “began to struggle with the trooper and bit them,” according to MSP, but officials did not specify where the trooper was bitten.

Once she was arrested, the trooper was “addressing additional individuals” at the scene, MSP officials said. At some point, the woman was able to slip the handcuffs and steal the patrol car.

Other troopers were able to give chase and she was once again arrested after crashing the car. The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to jail and will face undisclosed charges.

The trooper was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

    The incident remains under investigation.
