SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) -- The Shelby Township Police is crediting a pilot program with the quick arrest of four people following an incident at a beauty supply store.

On July 30, police said a female suspect attempted to make a purchase at Ulta Beauty, on Hall Road, using a counterfeit $100 bill. When she was confronted by store employees, she made a quick exit, but police stopped her vehicle before it could leave the parking lot.

The woman and three other people who were with her in the car were arrested.

Inside the vehicle, police said they found two handguns — one of which was confirmed to be stolen out of North Carolina — along with close to $2,500 in counterfeit bills, and fraudulently obtained merchandise

Authorities in Shelby Township say the officers who made the arrest are part of the Directed Patrol Unit, which is responsible for recovering multiple stolen vehicles, interrupting potential criminal enterprises and getting several stolen guns off the street.

Charged in the case are the following:

Khyre Block, arraigned at 41-A District Court on Aug. 1 on the following charges: Counterfeit Coins/Money, R&C stolen weapon, Uttering and Publishing counterfeit bills, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of ammo by a prohibited person. Bond was set at $500,000 cash/S=urety

Keijoya Greenaway, arraigned in 41-A District Court on the following charges: Possession of counterfeit coins/money and Uttering and Publishing counterfeit bills. Bond was set at $100,000 cash/surety

Anthony Williams, arraigned at 41-A District Court on the following charges: Possession of counterfeit coins/money and Uttering and Publishing counterfeit bills. Bond was set at $100,000 cash/surety.

Police said the fourth person in the car was a 17-year-old juvenile. It's unclear if he or she will face any charges.

“I take great pride in the Directed Patrol Unit," said Shelby Township police Chief Robert Shelide, in a statement. "Shelby Township Police is committed in keeping the community safe through strategic and calculated patrols. This case is just one of many crimes that DPU has been able to investigate and interrupt in Shelby Township. Thank you to the Directed Patrol Unit for their diligence and tough stance on crime."
