DETROIT (WWJ) -- One more round of thunderstorms is targeting Southeast Michigan on Friday, ahead of a pretty nice looking holiday weekend.

While Metro Detroiters are still cleaning up from gusty storms that brought down trees and power lines on Tuesday , forecasters warn that more severe weather is eyeing our area.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson says it'll be a hot and humid Friday in Metro Detroit, before the rain rolls in later in the day.

"There will be the risk for a strong thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening," Thompson said, speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950. "Any storm could produce damaging winds and hail and cause flash flooding — so that's something to keep in mind later tomorrow."

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of Southeast Michigan until 9 p.m.

The NWS says the storm system could bring wind gusts of up to 70 mph or more and "ping-pong ball-sized hail."

A "couple tornadoes" are possible, but didn't specify which areas are most at-risk.

The window for this severe weather is 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday.

Due to the possibility of severe storms, organizers of the Detroit Jazz Festival announced Friday's outdoor events have been postponed , though two indoor concerts will be livestreamed.

"Due to the impending severe weather conditions projected to impact Hart Plaza during tonight’s scheduled performances and acting out of an abundance of caution and the safety of our patrons and artists, we have decided to present both concerts, Translinear Light The Music of Alice Coltrane, and Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band as livestreamed only performances from the Gretchen C. Valade Center. These presentations will be livestreamed for free on our website www.detroitjazzfest.org without a live audience. All outdoor events are postponed for this evening only. We’ll see everyone here tomorrow at the Detroit Jazz Festival."

After Friday, however, the outlook is much improved for Labor Day weekend.

Thompson said Saturday morning will see some clouds with a shower possible to start the day, but that the sunshine will return Saturday afternoon ...and it will turn much less humid as the day goes on. The high on Saturday in Detroit will be around 81 degrees.

"And by Sunday and Labor Day it looks really nice," Thompson said. "Lots of sunshine, very low humidity, high 80 on Sunday, high 73 on Labor Day."
