FORT GRATIOT TWP. (WWJ) -- Authorities are searching for a suspect at large after a double stabbing in a case of domestic violence, north of Port Huron.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, a man and woman were wounded in the incident Thursday evening, at a home on Parker Rd. in Fort Gratiot Township, and deputies are looking for a family member believed to be involved.

Officials say the suspect, 33-year-old Brent Durrant, may still be carrying the knife he allegedly used to stab the victims — his mother and stepfather — before fleeing the scene.

The 56-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds, and the 55-year-old woman had cuts to her hands. The sheriff's office told WWJ Newsradio 950 that both were believed to be in stable condition.

It's not clear what led up to the stabbing, at around 7:30 p.m.

Durrant is described as 6' tall and around 150 lbs., last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and brown pants.

Durrant is known to have mental disabilities, officials said.

As the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau counties to search for Durrant, anyone who sees him is urged not to engage with him, and to call 911.
