Warren Police asking for tips on shooting at Veterans Memorial Park that left man in critical condition

WARREN (WWJ) Warren Police are asking the public for videos and tips related to a shooting at a local park that left a man in critical condition.

In a statement, Warren Police said they were called to Veterans Memorial Park on Campbell at Martin, in the area of M-53 and 11 Mile, on Saturday (8/31) around 7:40 p.m. Their dispatchers had received multiple 911 calls regarding shots fired in the parking lot.

Officers spoke with several witnesses to the shooting. They learned two men walked up to a white sedan that pulled up to the park. The two men talked to the people inside the car, eventually escalating into an altercation. As the men ran away from the sedan, the people inside of the car fired “several shots” at them, police said.

One of the men was shot multiple times in his arms and legs, according to police.

The white sedan fled north on Campbell.

Officers found the victim, and the Warren Fire Department rushed him to the hospital. He’s listed in critical condition.

During a canvas of the area; police said they discovered a handgun, several spent shell casings, and “other evidence of a shooting.”

No information has been released about the victim.

Investigators do not know how many people were inside of the white sedan.

“At this point, investigators do not believe this was a random incident,” police said.
