FLINT (WWJ) — A Flint couple spent their honeymoon behind bars after the groom allegedly purposely hit and killed one of his groomsmen with his SUV.

James Shirah, 22, has been arraigned on one count of second-degree murder, while his 21-year-old wife, Savahna Collier, has been charged with accessory after the fact to a felony.

Around 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, Flint police were called to the area of Hamilton Avenue and Lewis Street, just east of I-475, after getting reports of a pedestrian injury crash.

When officers showed up the found 29-year-old Terry Lewis Taylor, Jr., with severe injuries. He was taken to Hurley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators learned that Taylor earlier in the day had been a groomsman for Shirah’s wedding. After the wedding, the two allegedly got into an argument which led to Shirah running him down in the SUV at a high rate of speed, according to Flint police.

Officials did not say when or where the couple was arrested.

Shirah is being held with no bond. Collier’s bond was set at $4,000. Officials did not disclose the couple’s next court dates.

Authorities did not release any further details about the alleged incident, including what sparked the initial argument.
