TROY (WWJ) — A Troy man has been issued multiple tickets after police caught him drinking beer while driving shortly after he ran a stop sign.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25 near Brinston Park, in the area of John R and Maple Road, Troy police officials said on Friday.

Officers pulled the 59-year-old man over in a 2005 Honda Civic after they saw him disobey the stop sign at Paris and Milverton. Prior to the stop they also saw him drinking from a can covered by a drink koozie.

When officers spoke with him, they noted his speech was “slow and slightly slurred.”

When asked about the koozie, the driver admitted it was beer and handed the can over to officers.

The driver, whose name was not released, failed multiple field sobriety tests and then blew a .146% BAC on a preliminary breath test.

After he was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up, he agreed to chemical breath tests, coming back with results of .113% and .117%.

The man was given citations for operating while intoxicated, open intoxicants and disobeying a stop sign.

an old drunk. Can't wait to get home or wherever to crack a beer. Auction his car so he can walk and drink a beer or sober up and get another car. Probably just another Republican drunk sitting on his ass collecting disability and drinking
