DETROIT (WWJ) — Nearly two months after he was gunned down on Detroit’s northwest side, Detroit police are still searching for answers in the death of Trevion Ward.

The 20-year-old was killed in a drive-by shooting on the afternoon of July 18. Around 1:20 p.m. that Thursday, Ward was in front of a home on Omira Street — near I–75 and 8 Mile Road — when shots rang out.

Detroit police officials said at the time, the driver of a blue sedan was heading south on Omira when they fired multiple shots, hitting Ward multiple times. First responders rendered aid, but Ward was pronounced dead at the scene.

While a possible motive in the shooting remains unclear, authorities are renewing calls for tips in the case.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $20,000 for tips that lead to the arrest of Ward’s shooter.

Anyone who knows something about the shooting is asked to call the Detroit Police Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or submit a tip on DetroitRewards.tv.

As always, all Crime Stoppers and Detroit Rewards TV tipsters will remain anonymous.
