(WWJ) — Michigan State Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly threw a full cup of liquid at another driver’s car and fired shots at them during a road rage incident Downriver late Wednesday night.

It all unfolded around 10 p.m. on Sept. 11 on northbound I-75 near Northline Road in Southgate, according to MSP.

That’s when a driver called 911 to report they had been involved in a road rage incident. When troopers responded to the caller’s home, they told police they were headed north on I-75 near Northline when the driver of an older model Chevy threw a cup full of liquid onto his windshield.

The caller then pulled alongside the suspect and “made a gesture towards them,” MSP officials said.

The caller told police the other driver then rolled down their passenger side window and fired shots at them. They “believed they heard shots, but did not see any flashes,” MSP officials said.

There was no damage to the caller’s car. Troopers closed that portion of the freeway to search for evidence, but found nothing, officials said.

MSP officials are asking anyone who knows something about the alleged incident to call 855-MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw said it’s “important to remember that anyone that has lost control behind the wheel can not be reasoned with.”

“Do not make eye contact with them. Do not wave or make any type of gesture. If possible, slow down and let them get in front of you and call 911 if they continue their reckless behavior,” Shaw said in a post on X .
