Man charged with first-degree murder, additional crimes in 2022 death of former Detroit Police Officer: reports

DETROIT (WWJ) The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a Detroit man with the 2022 death of a former Detroit Police Officer and the non-fatal shootings of two other people, according to multiple reports.

Erik Delano Davis, 30, has been charged with a long list of charges; according to the Detroit News and CBS News Detroit. Those charges reportedly include first degree-murder, first-degree home-invasion, discharge of a firearm in or at a building, discharge of a firearm in or at a building causing serious impairment, felon in possession of a firearm, and three counts of felony firearm.

According to a 2022 Detroit News article ; investigators found remains belonging to former officer Stefon Hodo, 41, on July, 14 2022 at Stoepel Park at Evergreen and Outer Drive after he had been missing for about two weeks.

Davis allegedly killed Hodo during an argument on June 28, 2022, moved his body to the park, broke into his home, and stole his car and handgun; Wayne County prosecutors told CBS Detroit.

Two days later, police said Davis went to a home on Ferguson at Fenkell and shot two people with Hodo’s stolen gun. A 47-year-old man was shot in the hand and a 39-year-old woman was not hurt; CBS Detroit reported.

Davis was arrested on July 1st, 2022.

Hodo served on the police force from 2005 to 2013, the Detroit News reported.

During the two weeks he was missing, Hodo's mother told former WXYZ reporter Jenn Schanz about her son.

"He was just so supportive," his mother, Karen Hodo, said. "He had such a good heart."

Davis is due back in court for his arraignment on Monday.
