BRIGHTON (WWJ) -- Leadership at church in Livingston County say they're cooperating with a sheriff's department investigation after one of their pastors was allegedly caught filming people in the bathroom.

The suspect was a worship pastor at 2|42 Community Church in Brighton.

He was arrested after allegedly confessing to placing hidden camera inside a unisex bathroom on the church campus, on Grand River Ave.

"We are shocked and deeply saddened by this situation, as the protection, safety and privacy of every person who enters our church is our priority," said Eric Rauch, the executive pastor of ministry operations, said in a statement to WXYZ-TV . "2|42 Community Church is cooperating fully with the Sheriff’s Office investigation and is taking proactive steps, including engaging with a third party investigator, to ensure the safety of all our facilities."

Officials with the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating this case, said in an email to church members that they don't believe there are cameras elsewhere in the church.

Church leadership said the pastor was fired from his position at the church on Sept. 13.

The suspect's name was not immediately released, with expected charges pending.

2|42 Community Church is part of a chain, with locations in Brighton, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Livonia, Monroe, Taylor and Saginaw.
