DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police now say a second person has died after a double shooting where a crowd was gathered at Eastern Market , following Sunday's Lions game.

Detroit Police Chief James White said the suspect and victims were “more than likely tailgating” at Shed 6 when they got into a fight, at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Someone pulled a gun, and two people were shot, police said. A man in his 40s died at the scene, and a man in his 20s was rushed to a hospital where police confirm that he has since died of his injuries.

The suspect is an Oak Park man in his 30s, who holds a CPL, police said.

He was taken into custody and is expected to face murder charges, according to White.

As for what happened, White told reporters: "Large fight breaks out. The fight disperses after a few minutes. They reconvene in the same area, a few feet away from where the initial fight started. The two fighters put their hands up like they're about to fight each other and get into position for a fight. One of the people in the fight...pulls out a gun and shoots at least twice."

White said it's not yet clear if the shooter and the victims knew one another prior to this meeting, as the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect, whose name is being held pending his arraignment, could appear in court as early as Monday afternoon.

The names of the two men who died were not immediately released.

A vigil was planned at Shed 6, Monday evening.

Cassandra Willburn, a frequent shopper in the area, was disheartened by the incident.

"Everybody was supposed to be happy, having fun. I even started to ride through here; changed my mind, thank God," she said. "And it doesn't make sense. Even coming here today, I was kind of nervous... I don't know. I hope it gets better, but this is not OK."

Along with the shooting, Andrew Polasek, a longtime employee at Eastern Market, said he's upset about the monumental amount of trash left behind by Lions tailgaters. "What's going through my mind is for 35 years I've been working here, I haven't seen this in 25 or 30 years, something like this," he told WWJ's Charlie Langton. "...And it's horrifying."

This shit keeps happy, the country will turn on the Lions. I know, “who cares”…but it’s significant if the NFL thinks your brand is tarnishing the image.
