ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) -- Many Rochester Hills residents are expected to attend a public hearing on Tuesday night to address their concerns about the possibility of a new Meijer store being built in the city, and replacing a locally-owned store.

Hollywood Markets, located at the corner of Tienken and Rochester roads, opened in 2007, but store executives say the landlord will not be renewing their lease when it ends in January of next year.

Residents and businesses say the family-owned grocery store chain, which has been around since 1950, is being pushed out of its Rochester Hills location. Meanwhile, Meijer has submitted a site plan.

The Rochester Hills Planning Commission will meet tonight to discuss the project, which would also include a Meijer Pharmacy drive-thru.

Hollywood Markets employee Sandy Mark says the area already has plenty of Meijer locations, and the community needs its family-owned businesses.

"How many [Meijers] do you need?" Mark asked. "This is one of the last hometown stores, people love it."

The Planning Commission meeting is set to take place at 7 p.m.
