(WWJ) — Two young suspects have been arrested and charged for their alleged involvement in a massive string of vehicle vandalism in Northern Michigan.

Officials with the Michigan State Police Seventh District on Monday said two juveniles are facing charges after troopers from the Gaylord Post investigated the case in the Cheboygan area.

The Cheboygan City Police Department also had complaints of vandalism to vehicles within the city limits, MSP officials said .

In total, police received more than 70 reports of automobiles being damaged in the area. Many cars had deflated tires and damaged mirrors, while the suspects allegedly put rucks in some cars’ fuel tanks.

While officials said there were “other forms of vandalism” to vehicles, they did not elaborate. Graffiti was also painted in various places throughout Cheboygan, according to MSP.

Troopers were able to identify one of the suspects from security footage in the area and an interview led to the arrests.

Authorities did not release the names or ages of either suspect.

Exact charges they are facing were not disclosed.

Cheboygan will have the money to put in upscale condos, boutiques, upscaled restaurants. But cheboygan doesn’t have the money or brains 🧠 to put into place for the young citizens to do like a skateboard park, basketball courts for pick up games! A splash pad for the youngsters to play in. Why can’t they get grants for these few things? Because no one cares about the kids. They want the big ticket items that no one can afford! You need to build up the economy first in cheboygan. You need to start at ground level and build up not build up and have the high level items first. The kids are only going to act out even more. Cheboygan is a beat up old town with more bars and pot stores. The kids should come first give them something to do! Instead of doing damage to their town!
