ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- There's now a cash reward on the table for tips about multiple assaults on Jewish students at the University of Michigan.

Victor Naar, a spokesman for Betar USA, said — with help from the group Shields of David — $1,800 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the attacks.

"So, there hasn't been any arrests, and that's the reason why we put out a reward," Naar said, in a live interview on WWJ Newsradio 950. "It's not a large amount, but it it something we can do. And, unfortunately, we have to offer it."

"We don't wanna offer it," Naar said, "and we would like the university to do something about it, make arrests and campus police and Ann Arbor police to really get involved. And maybe this reward offering will help bring the perpetrators to justice."

The Ann Arbor Police Department has said it is actively investigating two assaults that happened over the weekend in the 1000 block of East University Ave., on U of M's Ann Arbor campus.

In both cases, the victims were Michigan students, and in both cases a group of people in front of a residence confronted those students, police said. Further details about the two incidents were not released.

In a joint statement, the Ann Arbor PD and the University of Michigan Police Department said they met with representatives of the Jewish Resource Center and its students to "reaffirm [their] commitment to ensuring the safety of students and the broader community."

"Both departments will continue coordinated efforts to increase patrols in the areas surrounding the campus to enhance security and provide additional support," the statement by police continued.

Among those in leadership reacting to these incidents is Congresswoman Debbie Dingle, who said: "Violence, hateful language, or threats toward anyone are unacceptable and each of us must stand up against them to protect our neighbors."

Anyone with information about these crimes can call the Ann Arbor PD tip line at 734-794-6939, or send an email to tips@a2gov.org .
