WARREN (WWJ) -- Two people are dead, and two police officers are hospitalized after a rollover crash in Macomb County, Monday morning.

The crash happened just after 5 a.m., on Schoenherr Rd. near 8 Mile Rd. in Warren.

According to police, two Warren Police officers were headed southbound on Schoenherr in a police SUV when they were involved in a crash with a white Dodge Durango.

The Durango overturned in the crash, and the two people inside of it were killed.

WWJ's Charlie Langton said one of the officers was trapped in his vehicle. Emergency crews got him out, and both officers were rushed to a hospital where they were listed in critical condition.

As for what led to the crash, Langton said it appears to have been a head-on collision, but police are still trying to figure out how it happened.

"We don't know the circumstances," Langton said. "They were not chasing the Durango, so they are still investigating the circumstances of the crash."

Schoenherr was expected to remain closed in both directions from 8 Mile to Topher for a few hours for the ongoing investigation.

    No names have been released.

Noticed they didn't say that drugs or alcohol wasn't a factor in this accident. Need to test all involved including the cops.
