DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Dearborn police are searching for an armed suspect on the run after they say he shot at a woman in a domestic dispute.

Police said a 911 call came in shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday from the female victim who said she was punched and injured by the suspect before he pulled a gun on her.

It happened at a home in the area of Auto Club Drive, just south of Ford Rd., in the Fairlane Woods subdivision, which includes condos and apartments.

"She reported that the domestic violence situation escalated where shots were fired in the area, and the suspect, a male suspect, fled the area," said Dearborn Police Corporal Dan Bartok.

Bartok said the shots fired did not hit the victim.

As of 9:30 a.m., the suspect remained at large. Police said the man should be considered armed and dangerous.

"Just to be aware, this whole area is being evacuated right now, because this is an armed and dangerous suspect," Langton reported, earlier in the morning. "There is a Henry Ford Health facility here; they've canceled some of the procedures this morning."

The public is urged to use caution in the area near the subdivision, where police are focusing their search.

Anyone who sees something suspicious should call 911 or Dearborn Police.

This used to be a nice apartment community.

First they say at 3am he’s barricaded himself in. Then they say at 9:30am he’s at large. Why would they evacuate people if he’s on the run? They’re safer if they shelter in place! What a seriously stupid situation!
