DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are searching for a suspect wanted in the shooting of a 53-year-old man in a car last week, on the city's west side.

According to investigators, the victim was in his car in the 17100 block of Huntington near W. McNichols, at around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, when an armed suspect pulled him along side him and opened fire.

The victim was shot, police said, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police did not share an update on the victim's condition, but said that he survived the shooting.

The unknown shooter fled the scene in the suspect vehicle, described as a red or burgundy newer-model Chevy Malibu.

Police on Monday released a surveillance photo of the vehicle, asking for tips in the case.

Anyone recognizes this vehicle, or who has any information about this crime, is asked to call Detroit Police Department’s 8th Precinct at 313-596-5840, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587).

There is a $500 reward being offered for the tip that leads to an arrest in this case through DetroitRewards.TV . The case number 2410080368 must be included when leaving a tip.
