St Tammany Parish Coroner, Christopher Tape, has been in office for about 137 days, and for just about every one of them.

Recalls in Louisiana can seem next to impossible to pull-off; the most recent attempt being a failed one against New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell.

The organization, Family First St Tammany, is on task to collect over thirty thousand signatures.

“The public should decide if we vote on him (Tape).”

Knowing this isn't an easy feat, the organization decided to take on the responsibility after, what they call, a history of sexual misconduct by Tape was revealed.

It was soon after Tape was declared Coroner, that an investigation into his background revealed indictments on sexual misconduct; one case involving a minor child of a woman with whom he was in a relationship.

“We didn’t know his background, credentials, or morals.”

That is why Noble Bates-Young says that there should always be competition for public service roles and more people should heed the call.

“Because he ran unopposed, he did not have a campaign and we were unable to properly vet him.”
