A New Orleans jury has convicted a man for a number of violent crimes, including rape and kidnapping, dating back to 2016.

According to Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams, the jury found Navarri Henderson guilty of first-degree rape, aggravated kidnapping, and domestic abuse battery against his pregnant girlfriend.

According to Williams, Henderson attacked a woman jogging along the levee in Algiers in 2016, raping her. Two years later, Henderson sexually assaulted another woman after forcing her behind an Algiers building. Prosecutors later used DNA evidence from both crimes to prove Henderson’s guilt.

Henderson was later arrested for breaking his pregnant girlfriend’s jaw. The evidence police obtained during that arrest was the same DNA evidence investigators used to tie Henderson to the two earlier assaults.

The jury acquitted Henderson of obstruction of justice and additional rape and kidnapping charges.

Under Louisiana law, Henderson will be sentenced to a mandatory life sentence without parole on the first-degree rape conviction.
