U.S. Congressman Garret Graves has announced that Louisiana will receive 104-million-dollars in “lagniappe” federal funds to Louisiana for transportation and infrastructure projects.

“These are dollars that other states can’t spend,” said Graves. “These are monies that are effectively sent back to the federal government because we are approaching the end of the fiscal year. So this is a very quick turnaround; these are projects that absolutely meet the definition of shovel-ready.”

The funds will be directed toward critical infrastructure upgrades, particularly in road construction and repair, essential for improving transportation safety and efficiency in the state. Graves emphasized that these funds will address the pressing need for better roadways, which have long been a concern for drivers

“We have been focused on trying to address traffic and infrastructue  solutions.  So this is all about advancing the infrastructure needs of Louisiana,” Graves said.

While this funding is a significant step forward, Graves says Louisiana still faces substantial infrastructure challenges, and that continued investment will be necessary.

“Making it a safer place to live and making it a place where we have the flow of traffic and traffic solutions that we’ve been needing for decades,” he said.
