Fans going to Saturday’s home opener at Death Valley will be in for a special experience.

Tiger Stadium underwent several improvements during the offseason in preparation for its 100th year.

“With us celebrating 100 years of Tiger Stadium, we’ve got some really impressive content and atmosphere that’s going to exist this season,” says Keli Zinn, LSU chief operations officer and deputy athletic director.

Some of the most notable improvements are a new main scoreboard on the north side and two new corner scoreboards.

“All three of those coming online are going to bring much better clarity, excellent image and replay opportunities, which is going to increase the atmosphere,” says Zinn.

There is also a new ribbon board.

“You’re going to see better opportunity for statistics, content and all those things to bring some things to life,” Zinn says.

Not only will the stadium look better, but it will also sound better.

“We’ve also brought online new sound and lighting,” says Zinn. “And all together, you’re going to see just a really dynamically-enhanced gameday presentation for everybody who’s there.”

If you want to experience the improvements with more than 100,000 of your closest friends, kickoff for Saturday’s home opener against Nicholls is at 6:30 p.m.
