Multi-Grammy award-winning artist Kendrick Lamar will perform at this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL announced on Sunday that the rap star would take the stage during the season’s championship game, which airs on FOX this year.

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” Lamar said in the announcement.

Lamar has built an impressive resume since his debut album “good kid, m.A.A.d city” in 2012, including 17 Grammy wins, a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album DAMN, and more.

Most recently, Lamar has made headlines over his very public beef with fellow rap artist Drake. The two musicians have released several songs going at one another, leaving the internet dissecting lyrics and arguing over “who won.”

In June, Lamar’s song “Not Like Us,” which was targeted at Drake, spent two weeks at Number 1 on the Billboard Top 100.

Roc Nation founder and rap legend Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter praised the selection of Lamar for the halftime show, calling him a “once-in-a-generation” performer.

“His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come,” Carter said.
