Metairie-based developer Kailas Companies is converting the old Sara Mayo Hospital on Jackson Avenue into a mixed-use apartment complex. The space will include more than 200 units, office and retail space, a parking garage, recreational area, and a park. The renovation is estimated to cost at least $62 million, according to documents provided by the city, and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

There are two major vacation splurges billionaires say are not worth it. The first is the most expensive suite at the hotel. A hotel’s staff may not be as familiar with the upkeep because they are not turning them over as often. Splurge on a suite but only get the one that has the amenities you are looking for. The second: you do not need to stay in an established hotel. Trying a new spot means the hotel will do more to earn your business in the future.

Stock futures are making major gains on Monday, signaling a strong start to the trading week after ending last week on a down note.
