    "Know what your risk is."

That's the message from National Hurricane Center director Michael Brennan to the residents of Louisiana as Tropical Storm Francine makes its way to the state's coast. Dr. Brennan says those risks are many.

"Francine is expected to bring mutiple days of heavy rainfall (and) considerable flash flooding risk," Dr. Brennan said, adding that Francine's winds and any tornadoes spawned by the storm could also pose problems for residents of southeastern Louisiana, even though the eye of the storm is expected to make landfall near the Cameron/Vermilion parish line, some 150 miles away from New Orleans.

Dr. Brennan says now is the time to enact your hurricane plan, including any plans that call for evacuations.

"Determine if you live in a flood-prone area, know where you're going to go if you're asked to leave your home by local officials, and identify the structural risks to your home," Dr. Brennan said. "If you live in a mobile home, you may be asked to evacuate as well, even for tropical storms conditions in some regions."

Dr. Brennan says if you have no plan, time is running out to put one together.

"You're going to have the rest of today and all day tomorrow, but you're going to want to have all of your preparations basically complete by nightfall Tuesday night."
