New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell addressed the city Wednesday afternoon with a briefing on Hurricane Francine. The mayor applauded the city's residents for their cooperation in preparing for the storm.

"Everyone plays a role," Cantrell said from the city hall press room, "in keeping our city, keeping one another safe."

Cantrell praised the city's residents, whom she says are following city leaders' guidance in preparing for the storm.

"The people, our people, they're listening, they're doing what we've asked them to do," she said.

"Worst impacts for the city of New Orleans and particularly our metro area, it's expected this evening starting around 6 p.m. going through midnight."

Cantrell warned residents that they could get four to eight inches of rain, tropical storm force winds with higher gusts, and possible tornadoes.
