NOPD: Parents claim toddler found walking alone in Gentilly

New Orleans police say the parents of a two-year-old boy who was found wandering in Gentilly as Hurricane Francine began to lash the city have claimed him.

According to investigators, the child was found around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Mirabeau and Paris Avenues. The toddler was walking alone down the street. Police canvassed the neighborhood, but they were not able to find anyone who knows the child.

An NOPD spokesperson says the parents picked up the child from the Third District police station after seeing their child's picture on television.
