20-year-old sought for attempted murder

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office wants the public to help them track down a man wanted for attempted murder.

"Craig Daniel Hawxhurst Jr., 20, is wanted for Attempted Murder in connection with a shooting at a home on Stafford Road in Hammond on Sunday, Sept. 1," the sheriff's department announced Friday afternoon. "Hawxhurst is accused of shooting a relative multiple times."

The sheriff's office says the victim survived.

Anyone with information on Hawxhurst's whereabouts is asked to call the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office at (985) 902-2072, or Crimestoppers of Tangipahoa at (800) 554-5245 or by visiting www.tangicrimestoppers.com.

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward.
