Saints' Taysom Hill believed to have avoided 'anything serious' after injury vs Cowboys

One of the few things that went wrong in the New Orleans Saints' 44-19 annihilation of the Cowboys in Week 2 was an early injury departure for Taysom Hill.

The Saints' do-it-all player suffered a chest injury and was taken to an area hospital for imaging tests before returning home with the team, head coach Dennis Allen said. While there was still some imaging left to get back, early returns were positive.

“He feels good. ... He went and had some more imaging today, but I think we avoided anything real serious,” Allen said.

Hill will appear on the injury report with a chest issue, and his status will be contingent on how much work he can get in throughout the week. Allen would not elaborate on exactly when the injury occurred or what it entailed. Hill, 34, came off the field late in the third quarter and spent some time in the injury tent before being led away by trainers.

With an aggressive play style Hill is no stranger to injuries. Earlier this year when asked if he'd started putting more consideration on limited contact in games, he made it clear that wasn't for him.

"No, I don't think about that, and I would say as soon as I start thinking that way, like, it's time to me to be done, you know? I've always played the game one way and if I can't do that anymore then I'm not gonna do it. I think this game requires too much. My teammates are putting too much into it that if I have to start thinking along those lines it's not fair to them and it's not fair to me."

Otherwise the Saints appeared to get out of the game with limited injury issues, though Marshon Lattimore was inactive due to a hamstring injury. Allen said his star CB wanted to play but he was held out for precautionary reasons. Taliese Fuaga went in questionable but played the full game with a back issue. Tyrann Mathieu dealt with a calf injury and Cedrick Wilson had an abdomen issue, but both players returned to the game.
