After more than 260 homes flooded in Kenner during Hurricane Francine, authorities are trying to help struggling families.

"Police Chief Keith Conley has assembled another drive-through event from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday (September 17) at Church of the King on West Esplanade," Spokesman Greg Buisson said in a news release.

He says two fully stocked 18-wheelers will be there with supplies for more than 850 families.

They are filled with pantry items and cleaning supplies.

The giveaway will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Chief Conley said, “We want to extend our hand of friendship and support for these families who are victims of the storm. Many are focused on cleaning their property and restoring their homes, and this gesture will hopefully help lighten their burden. We very much appreciate the heartfelt support from many companies and businesses that is allowing us to help our neighbors.”
