New Orleans ranked #1 for best work/life balance

Recently, New Orleans ranked atop a Travel & Leisure survey asking, "Which US city has the best work/life balance?" The resounding winner was none other than the Crescent City.

While many NOLA residents feel like this is already an open secret, as more and more transplants move to the New Orleans area, that “secret” is increasingly being discovered. Matt Wolfe, Senior Vice President of Communications for GNO Inc, believes this well-known balance in NOLA will only draw more and more quality workers to the city. “You’re seeing people coming here from other cities that are used to the hustle and bustle and the grind of having to create a career," says Wolfe. "That gets muted a little bit here. Aspirations are still strong for professionals in New Orleans, but it’s not the only thing that we live for. I think it makes them more well-rounded individuals.”

Wolfe is quick to point out that while New Orleans is a major metropolitan area, it’s small enough geographically that commuters are never far away from an adjacent region and its specific events. “When you combine access to some of the best food, music, culture at your fingertips … and then you have more time to spend at home than you would in other cities … that automatically creates a work/life balance that other people want to be a part of.
