A woman who worked as a clerk for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is accused of stealing more then $100,000 of bond money.

Investigators booked 49-year-old Anetra Parker on a felony theft charge Thursday.

Parker's job at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna included handling cash deposits made to cover prisoners' bail.

According to the sheriff's office, Parker had been skimming the till for "a series of years."

A sheriff's office spokesman says a recent audit caught the discrepancy, leading to the investigation and arrest.

Parker was released after her bail was set at $25,000.
