Judge acquits pro-Palestinian protesters arrested at Tulane

Fourteen people charged with trespassing on Tulane's campus earlier this year have been found not guilty by a New Orleans judge.

Cops booked the protesters in May after a 30-hour demonstration in front of the university's St. Charles Ave. entrance.

Prosecutors charged the group with "remaining in place after being forbidden," saying they ignored large signs informing them that trespassing is prohibited, as well as verbal orders to leave.

But during an hours-long bench trial on Friday, Judge Benedict Willard agreed with defense lawyers that the government could not prove it was their clients who were among those who refused to break down their encampment in front of Tulane's Gibson Hall.
