What special interests tax breaks will the Landry Administration get rid of?

Governor Jeff Landry made some sweeping statements regarding special interest groups and the tax incentives they receive, saying that one way to offset loss for the government could be to reduce or even end tax loopholes secured by certain sectors.

Since then, it's been a bit of a mystery as to what specific groups or industries Governor Landry could be referring.

Louisiana's Revenue Secretary, Richard Nelson, says a uniform approach will be used, without bias, to identify what loopholes don't have the intended impact.

"We are attempting to look at the hundreds of incentives we give out to cut them down and just give a fair rate to everyone to ultimately attract more business."

Nelson says that everyone will have to be willing to chip in to make the changes necessary with some making the sacrifice, perhaps, a bit more than others.

"Everybody gives up a little bit. You might give up your own credit but at the end of the day everyone is better off with a more competitive tax code."
