A St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office deputy was injured in a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash in New Orleans East.

Police say the chase came to an end at Hillwood St. and Read Blvd. early Tuesday afternoon.

Three subjects were detained at the scene.

New Orleans EMS treated the deputy on the scene.

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office says the deputy had to be taken to the hospital, but is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect the community, and we are thankful that the deputy involved is expected to recover,"Sheriff James Pohlmann said. "We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to ensure those who commit these dangerous acts are held accountable."

Officers booked Shawndell Taylor, Perrion Bailey, and Danny Lumar on outstanding warrants for armed robbery and aggravated burglary out of St. Bernard. Other charges are pending.
