No LSU football on Saturday, but several SEC games to watch

A rare Saturday off for the LSU Tigers in early October. And with the Saints playing on Monday, it’s a rare weekend with no LSU or Saints football. So, it’s a good weekend to hang up the Halloween decorations or if you are feeling really frisky, get the Christmas stuff out.

I suggest you should watch SEC football games, if you are already thinking about Christmas decorations.

    #9 Missouri at #25 Texas A&M

Missouri is 4-0 and the higher ranked team, but the Aggies are a 2.5 point favorite. If Mizzou is truly a contender for the 12-team college football playoff this is a game that they should win. The Aggies suffered an early season loss to Notre Dame. Have they improved under first-year coach Mike Elk?

Who will the Aggies start at quarterback Marcel Reed or Conner Weigman? Reed has the hot hand, but Weigman is reportedly healthy after getting injured in week two.

#12 Ole Miss at South Carolina 2:30

LSU fans will be dialed into this one, as the Rebels will try to shake off their upset loss to Kentucky and bounce back with a better performance against South Carolina. The Rebels’ offensive line struggled against Kentucky, how will they fare against the Gamecocks’ terrific edge rushers? South Carolina is expected to get quarterback LaNorris Sellers back after injuring his ankle against LSU.

    #4 Tennessee at Arkansas

College football usually delivers us an upset or two on any given Saturday. Could we see one in Fayetteville? The Vols are coming off a bye week after an emotional win at Oklahoma. Tennessee’s head coach Josh Heupel won a national championship at OU in 2000 as their starting quarterback and then was fired as offensive coordinator following the 2014 season.

Tennessee leads the SEC in scoring offense, averaging 54 points a game, and total defense, allowing 176 yards a game.

Arkansas has two losses, Oklahoma State and last Saturday to Texas A&M. In both cases the Razorbacks led in the fourth quarter.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave Tennessee a game.
